Software Engineer

Belay Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer (SWE) who develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. The SWE reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. The SWE resolves software problem reports. The SWE utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. The SWE provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Candidates should have the following qualifications: 
  • Four (4) years’ experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • TS/SCI with poly is required.
Candidates are required to have the following skills:
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Debug existing software and correct defects
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
  • Write or review software and system documentation
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
  • Develop and support a near real time messaging infrastructure
  • Messaging products include: TIBCO EMS, ActiveMQ, Artemis, and Kafka
  • Provide Tier III support on the Data Transport Systems (DTS) software 
  • Develop and support the DTS portfolio (DTS supports complex event processing using FOSS tools to collect infrastructure monitoring/metrics, and generate threshold based and temporal based alerting, DTS components send status information back to storage areas where quires can be made)
  • Experience with Cloud storage areas.
  • Experience with Apache Accumulo (Apache Zookeeper, ApacheHadoop)
  • Experience with Oracle DMBS
  • Experience with Real time streaming: Storm
  • Experience with Distributed in-memory data Cache/Storage: Redis
  • Experience with Graph Compute engine/Query Interface apache Tinkerpop/Gremlin
  • Experience with Rules Engine: JBoss Drools
  • Experience with Apache Camel
  • Experience with Spring Framework: used extensively to standardize/simplify configuration logic control, data access, security, Web-tier, etc.
  • Experience with develop and support the GUI interface into the EMM
  • Experience with GOTS developed applications include: (U//FOUO) Addition to FOSS messaging tools to run in the SIGINT environment
  • Experience with GUI to display metric/monitoring status and do common queries
  • Experience with command line tools to interact with Accumulo
  • Experience with Oracle stored procedures
  • Experience with maintenance scripts to facilitate normal cluster functions (e.g. table splits, compactions, mergers, Local/HDFS directory cleanup, etc.)
  • Experience with Java Multi-threaded applications
  • Develop and maintain software in the development environment
  • Use configuration management tool and repositories (i.e. Maven, Eclipse, GIT, Redmine)
  • Experience with support Multi-threaded applications
  • Experience with Information Technology: Public Key Enabling (PKE). RESTful services and containers (Oracle WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat).
  • Experience with Java programming language.
  • Experience with Perl programing language.
  • Experience with Java EE. Secure web (SSL) and file encryption.
  • Experience with LDAP (RedHat directory) Java, Linux (CentOS), Modern IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse, etc.)
  • Experience with Agile Scrum process
Candidates are desired to have the following skills:
  • Familiarity with SIGINT security rules
  • One (1) year experience with the SIGINT environment
  • CWIP Requirements: IAM Level I Certificate, IA Baseline Certificate for the Primary Computing environment/Operating System/Security tool: Security+ CE; CAP; CND; Cloud+; GSLC
